The Plateau Division, SER, NMRA

 

As initially stated on our Home Page, the Plateau Division was officially formed in June 2018, and consists of what was originally known as the Northern District of the HQ Division of the SER, NMRA.

 

Our focus in this great hobby of ours remains the same, that is: To provide a growing public awareness of the Model Railroad Hobby in this area (middle TN) by providing educational and historical opportunities for both the general public, as well as existing NMRA members. 

 

The additional focus of our efforts in middle Tennessee, is to make folks aware of the extremely rich historical presence of the railroad industry in this area for many, many years. As far back as the development of this part of our country, middle TN has provided some of the then required necessary components for railroad advancement and expansion, (lumber for railroad ties, coal for steam locomotive use, and manpower to support the expansion of the transportation industry in the state) , as well as our country’s expansion efforts in building necessary transportation capabilities in other parts of the country, pushing toward the western development of a transportation industry across the nation, as far back as the early to mid 1800s. 

 

While we truly believe that we embark on a formidable task, the preservation of our railroad history and it’s associated achievements and methods will help to continue the realization of ‘from whence we come’, as well as to the future of ‘where we are headed’.

We also endeavor to assist local Model Railroaders in the improvement of their modelling skills by various demonstrations, clinics and specialized assistance with specific modeling issues. If you have a need, please contact us to seek assistance.
